On NBC News 4 we had the opportunity to share our community work.
Many of you know that Gwen was first trained in women's apparel before she pursued jewelry design. She loves them both the same. Creating for gwen is therapeutic. She does it for herself and clients. Building community has always been embedded in the Gwen beloti brand.
The team alongside very generous volunteers including students, customers, friends and family gather in NYC each year to collectively make 100 dresses for little girls, in support of non-profit Little Dresses for Africa. The dresses are made out of pillowcases - a practical and efficient way to turn an everyday household item into a beautiful wearable garment. On Saturday June 27th, the 6th annual event was scheduled to take place.
Because gathering in the traditional sense in 2020 wasn't exactly ideal, Gwen decided to host a Make a Dress Challenge. This would allow the brand to continue to support the local and global community.
The Challenge is to make a dress out of a pillowcase from home! A little creativity and pillowcase is all that's really needed. It's intended to be a fun activity and promote creativity and community.
A prize of $150 will be awarded to the finalist.
