JULY 12TH - Finalists are announced and public vote opens
JULY 14TH - Public vote closes and winner is announced
Submit images (up to 4) and/or a video (up to 1 min) showcasing your dress. Video is preferred as it allows the judges to examine the dress more closely and view the dress in motion. Please submit footage that you think best depicts your design.
Your visuals should show:
- A clear front and back view of the dress.
- A close up of any designs, embellishments, or trimmings.
*If you submit a video use it as an opportunity to show the durability and movement of the dress.
Submissions should be sent to email@example.com with Subject: Dress Challenge. Please send them from the email address you listed on the sign up form. If you have difficulty sharing your visuals please contact us.
After reviewing participant submissions, judges to the best of their ability will assess the following:
- Creativity - participants are tasked with transforming an everyday household item, a pillowcase, into a beautiful little girls' dress. We are looking for innovation in that transformation.
- Functionality - the dress should be wearable. It should be easy to get off and on, and comfortable.
- Durability - the designs, straps, hem, etc. should all be secure. The dress should be sustainable beyond the design phase without worry that it will fall apart. It should be sturdy, and washable.
- Effort - the amount of time and energy invested in creating a beautiful garment.
The committee will deliberate and judge based on the categories above.
Please note that this challenge is open to anyone who wants to participate and individual circumstances will be taken into consideration. We recognize that these are difficult times for many and access to certain materials may not be possible. We also recognize that some participants will be sewing their garments by hand. We encourage you to be creative, make an effort, but ultimately have fun!
Prize money will be awarded within 7 business days of the winner being announced. The winner will be contacted with further details on the retrieval of their prize. The winner must be able to receive their prize money electronically via Paypal.
We recommend that you donate it to your local donation center or gift it to a little girl who will enjoy it.
